US Open 2025

New York City

US Open week was full of energy, connection, and unforgettable moments for BGTC. From surprise pro appearances to powerful conversations about art and legacy, each gathering reflected the spirit of our community and the mission we’re building together.

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed love. Your energy fuels what we’re building, and we can’t wait for what’s next!

August 21 – Thanks For Playing with On
We opened the week at Pier 42 Courts with our friends at On for Thanks For Playing. The afternoon brought together tennis, culture, and community in a way only New York can. The best part? A surprise visit from Ben Shelton, who hopped on court and rallied with participants

August 23 – Kickoff Party & Fundraiser with Taylor Townsend
Our Kickoff Welcome Party & Fundraiser was an unforgettable night. With Taylor Townsend in the house, music flowing, and so many supporters gathered, it felt both joyful and purposeful. Every donation went straight into BGTC programs, helping us expand access to tennis and keep our youth clinics free.

August 28 – Melissa Koby Panel with Racquet Magazine
We closed out the week by joining Racquet Magazine for a special event featuring artist Melissa Koby, who made history as the first Black woman to create official US Open artwork. Her 2025 piece honors Althea Gibson and the 75th anniversary of her groundbreaking legacy. It was an evening that celebrated art, storytelling, and the cultural impact of Black women in tennis.
